Oh, these last winter days that seem to drag on forever! You feel like you have already had enough of cold and snow, but still need to survive a couple of months until it is really gorgeous and enjoyable outside. During these dull and gloomy days we are completely color deprived seeing only white, black and grey almost exclusively. To make up for the deficit of color let’s look at the shades that Pantone told us we will be seeing in stores this spring. Let’s try to summon the Spring by updating our wardrobe – it will see that we are ready and come sooner
Overview of Spring/Summer 2013 Colors
The palette for Spring 2013 consists of colors that are bright and energizing (exactly what we need after a long winter) as well as of calm and serene neutrals to balance off the brighter shades.
That what Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® said about the upcoming season palette.
What Pantone offered us as an alternative to our go-to neutral colors, white, black, grey and beige?
Dusk Blue – quiet an unusual choice for a basic and neutral color but it turns out the blue can be a wonderful background for brighter spring colors, think about nature and all these colors in it that we perceive against blue sky. That’s the idea. If you happen to be a Summer color season, then it is an ideal choice for you, however this shade of blue looks good against almost any skin coloring
Greyed Jade – some seriously greyed green that functions amazingly as a neutral background color thank to that grey in it. It is again a universal color that suits many of the skin tones being at the same time the most flattering for soft Autumns.
Linen – light, airy nude-like color perfect neutral base going with a lot of skin tones
Emerald – beautiful spring color which also happened to be a color of 2013. Lovely, radiant, sophisticated and lush. I must admit it is one of my favorite colors and I like it much better than Tangerine Orange, the color of 2012. It looks the best on gals with cool skin undertone
African Violet – flowery color with a hint of exotic. Makes for a wonderful combining color in unexpected ways with other colors of the season. Will complement Autumn and Summer girls the most.
Nectarine – lovely orange with a warm coral touch. Although there is a belief that coral complements any complexion, it really looks good only if you have a warm undertone. Cooler tones should avoid corals and oranges especially closer to the face.
Poppy Red – a fun shade of red, a wonderful color for combining and creating accents in our outfits. Use it excessively only if you are a Winter.
Lemon Zest – bright cool yellow, energizing and joyous. And even thought you would think that since it is a yellow color, it will probably be complementing warm skin tones, this shade of yellow is actually its cool variety, the one that can snug very comfortably in a Winter’s wardrobe.
Tender Shoots – is a third green in the collection which makes us think that this Spring will really be into greens. This particular gentle and fun shade will look the best on Springs.
Monaco Blue – brightened dark navy which can be a wonderful calming color to any brighter shades in this collection.
Spring Colors Combinations
