Look #1

LookMatchMaking Project

Ingrid, a very socially active recently promoted manager  at one of the major banks, needed a casual outfit for weekends with friends. She wanted a look that would be comfortable, practical and at the same time would take her up from her usual way too relaxed too much student like go-to outfits.

To satisfy her needs I offered her blue jeans, that are not too distressed, no holes or embroideries (leave these adornments to Ingrid’s subordinates) and a silk tunic. I think that simple pieces that are at the same time made of good quality materials and show superior craftsmanship are key in creating casual outfits that would show your status without being too pretentious.  So silk tunic and high quality jeans serve this purpose very well.

For the silhouette, I chose skinny  jeans and loose fitting top because Ingrid is a representative of a straight body type with slim long legs, no defined waist and  with a tendency for extra weight to gather around waistline. Therefore the line that draws no attention to the waist and accentuates legs is perfect in this case.

Beautiful cornflower blue will look amazing on a blue-eyed blonde with very active and emotional personality. Accessories that I chose will also add some playfulness and fun to the outfit.

I supplied the outfit with 2 pairs of shoes so it can be adjusted to a number of social occasions. The outfit is versatile (again, due to high quality materials)  that can be either dressed up (with heels) or down (with flats).

I also recommend light make up – brown mascara and sheer lip gloss for a day.

Got inspired by Ingrid’s look? Think it will work for you, too. Below you can shop for similar items

To make up for the deficit of color let’s look at the shades that Pantone told us we will be seeing in stores this spring. Let’s try to summon the Spring by updating our wardrobe – it will see that we are ready and come sooner :)

Continuing my MatchYourSelf series started with this post where I talked about how it is important to factor your body characteristics into your ideal wardrobe building, I decided to dedicate this post to Somatype. Somatype, in other words your body type, plays important part in determining your ideal clothing. It resonates a lot with the line in face and body system and I believe might be easier for some people to understand and apply.

Line in body. Practicum

Posted by on Jun 4, 2012 in Blog, Matching Yourself, Styling tips | 1 comment

In my  previous post I talked about line in face and body and how it is important to follow your line when shopping for clothes. Today I’ll show how all this theory translates into real-life garments.

Straight line dominates in your body. What to look for when hitting shopping malls?

  • Straight lines, tailored, pleats
  • Crisp fabric
  • Straight patterns: stripe, check, plaid, etc.

Below are examples of tops and summer dresses that will look amazingly on straight line girls creating a harmonious look.

Matching Yourself. Line in Face and Body – Tips for Effective Shopping

Posted by on May 31, 2012 in Blog, Matching Yourself, Styling tips | 9 comments

Before I took image consultant training and got introduced to some eye-opening concepts and rules of dressing, I’d believed that all it takes to dress well is a good sense of style, ability to coordinate colors and understanding of current trends. While this is by all means true, I now know there is so much more to the selection of the most flattering garments.

First of all, it’s understanding of your body characteristics, like bone structure, line in face and body, personal texture and so on. Amazingly enough all these things that you would never consider factoring into your wardrobe building, matter a lot and are crucial for an outfit to feel like it’s an extension of your personality and not a separate entity.

Today, I’m going to talk about line in face and body and how it affects your wardrobe choices.
